Assignment 14 - Halfway Reflection
1. Tenaciousness is a competency
The first behavior that I have used to keep up with the course is time management. A good portion of the assignments in this course so far require three to five interviews. Because of this, one cannot start the assignment an hour before it is do. One must plan their time appropriately in order to meet the requirements for assignments in this course. The second behavior is socializing. As noted earlier, interviews have been a consistent component of the course’s assignments. As a result, one must have the skills necessary to perform well in social situations such as interviewing.
2. Tenaciousness is also about attitude
A moment I felt like giving up was when I tried to learn how to longboard. As a child I had always wanted to learn, but never got around to it until I was in my teen years. My balance at the time was poor, and I fell off of the board time after time after time. I remember going home bartered and bruised. I wanted to give up. What got me through it was my drive. I was not going to stop until I had reached my goal. I picked myself back up, and kept on trying until I finally learned how to ride. I do not feel like I have developed a tenacious attitude within the last two months. Instead, I came into college with that attitude. I believe the experience that contributed most to this is my upbringing. I was taught to put everything I have into everything I do. I have carried that attitude into all the things I have taken on in my life. Intense determination was built into my personality as I grew up.
3. Three tips
1. To foster the skills that support tenacity, I would say that one should try and surround oneself with strong, determined individuals who want to see the success of their peers. They will lift one up and help one develop into a tenacious individual.
2. To develop the “tenacious mindset”, I would say that one should chase after a goal that one has had for a long time, and to not let anything get in the way of achieving it. Engaging in a tenacious behavior such as this can help the behavior, in this case tenacity, become second nature in one’s life. Nothing helps one learn more efficiently or effectively than actually doing what one is trying to learn.
3. My last tip would be to recognize one’s own ability. If one is a student at the University of Florida, then one has proven they have a strong work ethic . All one has to do is apply themselves in order to achieve whatever goal one has. One has the necessary skill. All one needs is a little more determination than they may currently be displaying in order to become the tenacious individual I know they can be.

This is a picture of me downhill longboarding. The picture is not tilted. That is the actual slope of the road.

That is a pretty interesting hobby you have there. I don't believe that i have the athletic ability to do something like that. I think trying this and sticking to it until you got it was very tenacious. Great job.
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree with you tenacity is a key trait to have in order to succeed in much of our day to day life. It was interesting to read about your struggles learning to long board as I myself also went though the same and sometimes still have troubles getting back on after long periods of not riding around. It was great to hear how you overcame this obstacle.
